Style Me Vintage

I've had this book for a while and I absolutely love it!, it's a fantastic book for how to step by step tutorials on vintage hairstyles such as victory rolls, beehives, 40s waves. The book also tells you what equipment and brushes I'll need in order to achieve the looks.

The books written by Belinda Hay the founder of the painted lady boutique.

MUA lip lacquer ... Best find!!

I've been obsessed with the Lime Crime velvetines but find them to be a little drying on my lips, especially in this weather. However the good news is I've discovered MUA liplacquers which  are amazing and for £3 a total bargain, the same velvet matte finish but found them to be much kinder on the lip, much creamier and less sticky,  you can buy on line or in superdrug, they normally have more of a range online though, now go forth and be fabulous!! 😘

Hello 2015!!...its been a while

Ive just logged on for the first time in almost a year, and I have to say I'm very overwhelmed by the lovely comments and feedback I have received while I've been away!. I didn't intend to stop blogging but sometimes life gets in the way and these things fall to the wayside.  I have made a commitment to try and blog at least once a week.

So what have i been up to?  The 2 years or so I've concentrated more on bridal and wedding makeup.  (something I really thought I wouldn't enjoy!)  as it turns out i absolutely love it!! I have met some wonderful clients, photographers and friends.

I also found time to shoot with a fantastic photographer called Jason Perkins we collaborated on a Betty page inspired shoot which has been of my favourite shoots to date, I absolutely love vintage lingerie and 40s hair and make up, (so was pretty excited,) we even managed to borrow an old vintage classic Cadillac for the day! My model Sophie Lillie was a great sport and didn't seem to mind when two lovely old gentlemen stopped by to admire the Cadillac and the got more than they bargained for!

My son very excited to ride in the Vintage cadillac

A few other things I have collaborated on with Jason ,  Im looking forward to doing more this year, so watch this space and please do check out his work he's a very talented chap. www.jasonperkinsphotography.co.uk

A shoot i did with Jason and the gorgeous Kirsty Wood which was published for Dolly Rox magazine and also featured in Tattoo and lifestyle ,Kirsty has gone on to be published in various other international tattoo magazines and publications! Not just a pretty face Kirsty is also a very talented tattooist too.

So thats just some of my Highlights from 2013/14  Happy new year!!

Published work for Kaltblut Magazine 'Vagabond'

its been a while!!! Recent work from 2012-2013..

Hi lovelies its been a while!! I've been busy shooting lots I just thought i'd share some more of my favourite shoots over 2012-2013

This was a lovely little shoot i did with Lucy Rogers. I used silver leaf on the lips to create some texture and light,.On the day the hair dresser actually let us down so I had to do her hair with no hair kit!!  i think it turned out pretty well considering!.

This shoot was so much fun!.It was Carmen Maranda vinatge inspired,.I really wanted to make the make up bright and on trend, I painted the blue eyebrows on with kryolan , and used pop of yellow on the lids.

This shoot was one of my favourites to date! we drove down to Somerset and shot in a beautiful restored gypsy carrige on a quaint little farm,. I was fortunate to work with a fantastic creative team Rosie Williams styled the shoot and the lovely Claire Huish was the photographer. both very talented ladies!! please check them out!. Our lovely model was Hazel @ gingersnap agency.

Ziad Ghanem backstage London Fashion week! (with AOFM)

I was so excited when I was selected to be part of the backstage make up team for London fashion week! working with the AOFM pro team is aways a treat!

Of all the shows the most iconic for me had to be ZIAD GHANEM. after last years triumph I was truly inspired by the theatrics of the show, it was both magical and original. could they really top that?

Key makeup artist Michelle Webb (who was also responsible for February2011 LFW look for Ziad) came up with the individual looks for each model! all the models were artists or creative people of some kind, which really made the spirit of the show and made it less conventional! the looks ranged from totally black face to intricate roses painstakingly painted on to the face.

The show has been the highlight of my career so far! working with such a wonderful team and makeup artist make the hard work all worthwhile.I look forward to more shows with AOFM and LFW 2012!
